Robert C. Cawrse, assistant principal and head football coach at Shaw High School has been named principal of the Rocky River High School. The new post pays $7300 a year and its duties begin with August 1st. Cawrse was chosen from a field of 18 candidates. He replaces Marsden U. Grubb who after 21 years as administrator, is by choice, returning to the classroom.
Rocky River High has an enrollment of 402 pupils and a staff of 22 teachers.
Cawrse came to Shaw from Maple Heights in 1950 and for the past two years has been assistant principal. While at Maple Heights he served two years with the U.S. Navy.
A graduate of Lakewood High School, Cawrse received his bachelor's degree from Baldwin-Wallace and his master's degree from Western Reserve University where he has about completed his work for a doctor's degree in administration. He is a member of East Cleveland Kiwanis Club and resides at 15721 Friend ave., Maple Heights.
No announcement as to his successor, either as assistant principal nor football coach has as yet been made by school officials.
