NORTH CAROLINA, March 4, 1776.

On the 27th of February last a detachment of the army under the command of Col. Caswell, was attacked by about 2000 Highlanders and regulators, at Moore's creek bridge, about sixteen miles above Wilmington. A general engagement ensued, and a complete victory was obtained, the enemy broken and routed, leaving about 30 dead and mortally wounded in the field. Among the former was General M'Leod, their commander in chief. Brigadier General Donald M'Donald is prisoner.
