The American Legion hall was filled with more than 350 people Wednesday night at Imperial when 43 Boy Scouts representing six El Centro and Imperial troops received awards and advancements in the district Court of Honor.
The program was in charge of Superintendent C. C. Hancock. The awards were presented by Bill Foss, advancement chairman from El Centro. Scoutmaster Hans Larsen of Troop 85 conducted a candlelight ceremony initiating nine tenderfoot scouts, who in turn pinned miniatures of their badges on their mothers. Larsen was assisted by Harry Case and Wallace Kent, also of Imperial.
Court of Honor awards were made as follows:
Troop 85, sponsored by the American Legion of Imperial, Hans Larsen, Scoutmaster
Tommy Allen -- 2 service stars; merit badges in woodcarving, woodwork, pigeon raising, swimming, 2 recruit bars, 50-hours service stripe.
Donald Larsen - three 1-yr. service stars, 50-hour service stripe
These Boy Scouts all received their second class badges besides the awards: Herbert McCall - badges in woodwork and poultry keeping, service star, 50-hour service stripe. Marcus Sigmen - recruit bar, service star, 20-hr. stripe badge in poultry keeping. Monroe Robinson - recruit bar. Roland W. Newton - recruit bar, 20-hr. stripe. Mardis Bristow - recruit bar, 20-hr. stripe. Harry Johnson - second class. Norman Haun - recruit bar, 1-yr. service star. Stanley Jackson - second class. The troop also won the attendance banner.
