Full Text

Contradiction,—Capt. Tutherly, of the Schr. Hammond, fishing vessel, has arrived at Portsmouth, from the Bay of yesterday. He informs that the statement relative to the capture of his steward, by the British ship Dorothy, "has no foundation in truth." and that, on the contrary, he was treated in a gentlemanly and polite manner.—We suspected as much. There is not, we believe, at this time, the least disposition, on the part of the British Government, to authorize or to connive at vexatious interference, by its armed vessels, either with our trade or fisheries. Our Eastern friends should not cry "wolf" quite so often.
