BROOKLYN-(ANP)- Scores of Brooklyn's fairer sex started out in quest of being crowned "Miss NAACP of 1952" when books were issued to candidates at the local branch. Late entrees were expected to bring the number of candidates to 50. The winner will be crowned at the Victory Dance, February 19 at the Eastern Parkway arena.
Executive Board Chairman Arthur L. Funn, speaking for the branch, stated that it is hoped that at least $10,000 will be raised enabling the branch to have a paid staff needed to meet the demands facing the association in Brooklyn. "The price of freedom calls for more than lip service," he stated.
The young woman raising the most money in the contest will be crowned queen and receive a 1952 Four-door Ford automobile.
