SAN FRANCISCO, (AP)—Fifty ships and a 6,000-man regimental combat team will participate in joint Army and Navy training exercises along the West Coast during the latter half of March.
The exercises, March 14-30, were announced today by the maneuver directors, Lt. Gen. W. G. Wyman, 6th Army commander, and Vice Adm. W. K. Phillips, commander, 1st Fleet.
The participating ships will be from the Pacific Fleet and the regimental combat team will be from the 2nd Infantry Division, Ft. Lewis, Wash.
Exercises will include embarkation of the combat team at a simulated advance base in Puget Sound and an amphibious landing at San Simeon Bay, Calif. The Army troops will move inland to the Hunter Liggett military reservation to strike at the rear of an assumed aggressor force.
