The gospel text, read by Pastor Sunwall, was from John 10:11-16. The text used for his sermon on "The Compassion of Christ" was from the ninth chapter of Matthew. Pastor Sunwall reminded us that God is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. Today we have a tendency to see man as a part of a group rather than as an individual. Jesus saw them in their trouble and affliction which is a result of sin. Not a specific sin on the part of the individual afflicted but sin in the world. He saw people as scattered sheep without a shepherd. People are scattered and going astray because the church has failed. He came in mercy that there might be a glorious harvest. There was a must (an urgency) in His soul for the entire world.
On Sunday, May 17, at the morning worship service at 10:45, a class of eight boys and girls will become communicant members of the Church by the rite of confirmation. There will also be reception of new members. If you have no church home and are interested in joining St. Paul Church, get in touch with Pastor Sunwall or the parish worker.
