The Elections.

OLD MASSACHUSETTS FOREVER.

Massachusetts voted last Monday and has sent Polk to Texas with becoming vengeance. The votes of the State are as follows in all except six small towns which will vary the result but slightly. It is given in Counties:

Of Presidential and Gubernatorial Votes.

... [table of votes: 67418 52846 10960 etc.]

By the foregoing table, it appears that the Whig Electors of President and Vice President have received votes, amounting to 67,419. There have been cast for the Polk Loco Foco Ticket 62,848. For the Birney Ticket 10,960. Making all against the Clay Ticket 73,706. Thus, the Whig Electoral Ticket, for Clay & Frelinghuysen, is chosen by a majority of 8,713.

The majority for Governor Briggs over all others is 5,183.

Robert Winthrop, Amos Abbott, George Ashmun, Julius Rockwell, John Q. Adams, and Joseph G. Grennell, all Whigs, have been elected to Congress; D. P. King, whig fails of an election by about 50 votes, and Charles Hudson by 400; Parmenter, loco, has a majority against him of 1,700, and Williams, loco, 500. 6 whigs & no locos elected to Congress. The State Senate stands 27 Whigs 13 vacancies and no locos. House 183 Whigs 50 locos and there are numerous vacancies.

NEW YORK. The Tribune has the returns from all the Counties, and Polk has a majority of 4,536.— The assembly stands 60 whigs and Natives and 68 Polkites. Congress not yet ascertained.

NEW JERSEY. Gives Clay 1,000 majority and the Whigs have elected four of the five members of Congress—last year they had but one.

MARYLAND. Clay's majority is about 3,500.

MICHIGAN. The shortest story possible will answer for this State. It has gone Loco Foco, Polk and Dallas, Texas and Oregon, British Free Trade, and down with American Industry. The majority is somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000.

Maine has gone for Polk, Dallas, Free Trade, Texas, and all the Loco Foco humbugs by some 4,000 over all.

NORTH CAROLINA—gives Clay about 4,000 majority.

OHIO—6,000 majority for Clay, without much doubt. A few counties to be heard from.

NEW HAMPSHIRE. The vote in 16 towns in this State stands for Polk, 22,520, or Clay, 15,527, for Birney, 3,506—The questions of the abolition of capital punishment and of a revision of the Constitution were submitted to the people for a decision, and both have been decided in the negative by a large vote.

P. S. A short time since the Star told us that the people of New Hampshire had made efforts to amend the Constitution but had been defeated by the federalists. The same has happened now—as they are largely in the majority, there.

GEORGIA.—Sixty-two (out of ninety) Counties give a Whig majority of 1,198; in October, 502; Whig gain, 696. Yet to hear, 1,634 The remaining Counties will, probably, show a Loco Foco gain.— There is not a chance for the State. It has gone for Polk, by about 1,000 majority.

Kentucky.—The good Whig State of Kentucky will give a very large majority for her illustrious Son—probably it will run up to near 10,000. The New York Tribune says. "Kentucky has rolled up a glorious majority for her own peerless Statesman. It will not avail to make him president, it will serve to rebuke his malignant slanderers! Gallant Kentucky. She is worthy of such a Son".

INDIANA.—This State has probably given her vote to Clay & Frelinghuysen, by a small majority:—yet it is not altogether certain.

VIRGINIA—For Polk, by a thousand or two.
