Unemployment Fund Shows Big Reverse

Columbus, O. (OLNS).—A balance of $123,469,638 was reported in the Ohio unemployment compensation fund as of October 31 by Administrator H. C. Atkinson, with net benefit payments of $19,935,068 paid to nearly 200,000 different workers during the first ten months of 1939.

Total contributions to the fund by approximately 45,000 Ohio employers of nearly 1,500,000 covered workers amounted to $143,404,706 through October, the Administrator said.

Wages subject to the 2.7 contribution rate of employers of three or more workers represent the total amount of wages including money wages, tips, gratuities, and cash value of other remuneration as reported for each payroll month by employers.
