Valley Dairymen
Aided By Bill

Organized agriculture won a victory recently when the Brigham-Townsend bill was passed by big majorities in both houses of Congress, according to information received at the local farm bureau office. The American Farm Bureau Federation was active in fighting for the passage of the bill.

Imperial Valley dairymen were interested in the extreme, since if the bill had not passed, it would have meant that the manufacturers of oleomargarine, by the use of unbleached palm oil instead of coloring matter, could avoid the 10 cents per pound tax. They could then have sold their product, which would have the appearance of butter, at a price considerably lower than that of the genuine article.
