The young men's debating club held its first meeting in Judge Carroll's court room last night. After being called to order they elected Elmer Ellsworth president by a unanimous vote. Then the following officers were elected: Vice president, Sidney Bartlett; secretary, George Spaulding; trustee, George Evans, sergeant at arms, Walter Moore; membership committee, R. Mercer, R. Chamberlain and B. Mathews; executive committee, W. Houghton, C. Frye and G. Evans.
The club consists of Cheyenne's most enterprising young men and promises to be the leading literary society of the city.
The following is their next week's program:
Debate—"Resolved, That animals have the power to think."
Affirmative, R. Mercer and G. Evans.
Negative, W. Moore and B. Mathews.
W. M. Masi, guitar solo, and extemporaneous speeches by Elmer Ellsworth and other members of the club.
