INSURRECTION IN JAMAICA!
Captain Fish, arrived here last evening in 8 days from Porto Rico, informs, that while at St. Croix, Mr. Nugent, a very respectable merchant of that island, told him on the 27th July, that accounts were just received of an insurrection of the Negroes in the island of Jamaica, and of their being in possession of the town of Montego-bay; and that on the 2nd of August, an express arrived, stating, that the Insurgents had got possession of Kingston.
CONFIRMATION!
Captain Forsyth, arrived this morning from St. Bartholemews, informs, that accounts were received there of an insurrection of the Blacks in Jamaica, and that they had burnt down Montego Bay. A number of troops had been embarked at Antigua on board the ships of war on that station, and sailed for Jamaica.
