Full Text

Burglary.—The store of Mr. Nathan Ritter, in Chapel-st. was broken open last night, by prying out the bolt of one of the back window shutters, and entering through the window. Money seems to have been the object of the rogues, as no goods were taken. They got poorly paid for their pains, as only between four and five dollars in change was taken. A parcel of matches was found on the floor near the money drawer, and marks on the counter showed evident attempts to ignite them, in which it is presumed they failed, and hence could not see to find the spoils. It behooves others to be on their guard.
