Two Men Hanged for Burglary,

CHARLOTTE, N. C., Dec. 18.-Nelson Swart and Anderson Davis, colored, convicted of burglary, were hanged within jail enclosure in this city yesterday. A drop fell at 11 o'clock, and Davis' neck was broken by the fall. As the drop sprung, the noose around Swart's slipped so that the knot rested back of his head, and he died from strangulation. Both men mounted the gallows with a steady step and exhibited no emotion. They bade those present farewell, said they were going to heaven. They were attended by the Rev. Father Mass. Under the North Carolina law murder, arson, rape and burglary are capital crimes.
