"As relates to the Election, Mr. Adams' prospects are much more flattering in this section of the country, than when I last wrote you. It is believed by gentlemen, who possess the best means of information, that the counties of Washington, Athens, Meigs, Harrison, Belmont, Licking, Huron, Sandusky, and Columbiana, will give majorities for Adams; and in Delaware, Marion and Crawford, he will get two thirds of all the votes. And it is confidently asserted, that nearly throughout the whole Western Reserve, Mr. Adams will obtain large majorities. As the election approaches, and discussion progresses, his friends are rapidly increasing. Many of our most substantial and respectable citizens, who have hitherto remained silent spectators, are daily coming out in support of Mr. Adams. As far as I can learn, from every part of the state, it may be generally remarked, that whenever Jackson is gaining, Clay is losing ground. Indeed, there can hardly remain a doubt, that Mr. Adams will have the vote of Ohio, by an overwhelming majority.
Yet this impression ought not to lessen in the least, the vigilance and activity of his friends."
