FLORIDA. The Radical thieves squeal terribly at the prospect of being choked off from the necks of the people. The Jacksonville Union is greatly alarmed by the project of a State Tax-Payers' Convention, the sole object of which is to devise ways and means of saving the property of the people and driving out the rogues who are plundering them. A Republican property-holder is as much interested as a Democratic property-holder, and no honest Republican can suffer from the movement. The Union has a tight grip upon the public treasury, and is feathering its nest out of the hard earnings of the people; its opposition to any honest gathering looking to economy and good government is to be expected. The convention refused to have anything partisan about it. It is simply a conference of honest men of all parties on the best plan for repelling thieves and saving the property of the people from wholesale confiscation. Let the Union squirm. We know it hurts; but then the people of Florida intend to look after their own interests in future—interests that the 'thieving carpet-bag gers' have concluded are only proper subjects of plunder.
