Republicanism triumphant over Bigotry, Deceit, Envy and Aristocracy.

It gives us no real pleasure to announce to our readers that the election in Rhode-Island has terminated favorably for the glorious cause of Republicanism. The federal junto, it is presumed will no longer insist that Federalism has the pre-eminence in that state; - they are now convinced that they have been either intentionally or ignorantly deceived, and that their plausible representations have no effect on the minds of men of sense or honor. They have said, that the common people were through ignorance induced to choose Republican Senators and members of Congress - they have likewise said that the common people of that state would alter their opinions, as respected politics, as soon as they could have the means of information - and they have said a thousand things which they, poor ignorant fellows, have discovered to be fabulous. They have distributed sums of money to purchase votes. They have rode hundreds of miles to spread their pamphlets and lying Mercuries, Gazettes, and Chronicles. - They have held midnight caucuses in every part of the state. They have threatened with their displeasure, the firm and honest people, who would not hearken to their iniquitous doctrine. They have kept open stores to give a long credit to those who would promise them their votes. They have visited the sick, administered cordials to the weak and feeble, distributed money among the ignorant without fee or reward. In short, they have done every thing in order to gain their points - but poor wretches how sadly are you disappointed; how chopfallen you will look, when you chance to fall in the company of the honest Republicans. How much more honorable and profitable would it have been for you, to have attended to your professional business, than to deprive yourselves and families of the real necessaries of life, in order to get debilitated old men - young ignorant fops, and middle aged notorious knaves into office. - From your disappointment learn wisdom; - leave folly's paths and pursue the straight road that leads to honor, wealth, and happiness.
