Extract of a Letter from Neuchatel, August 4.

You have here the sentence which the King of Prussia has passed against the inhabitants of this town, on account of the murder of the Advocate-General Gaudot, whom his Majesty had appointed Lieutenant-Governor of this principality.

I. The Burgomasters (or chief Magistrates) shall go to the Castle, & there, upon their knees, ask pardon of the Governor.

II. The Burghers (or Townsmen) shall be disarmed for 2 years.

III. The Town shall pay all the charges.

IV. The company of Grenadiers shall be broke, with ignominy, to perpetuity.
