One of the English beaux esprits now figuring in Paris, sent to a young beautiful actress of the Comedie Italienne the following singular and laconic billet doux. -- "You have determined, I hear, strictly to adhere in the path of virtue.--The resolution is excellent--to encourage you in it I will allow you fifty Louis d'ors a month, whilst you continue virtuous; should your mind change, suffer me to have the preference. and the allowance shall be doubled." The lady received fifty Louis d'ors, the first month, but is now in receipt of a hundred.
