Henry Wallace Visits Georgia

Henry Wallace has been to Georgia. He spoke three times in Macon on November 19th and twice in Atlanta the next day.

He was brought here by Clarke Howell "Puke" Foreman's Southern Conference for Human Welfare.

This Southern Conference for Human Welfare is nothing but a front for the Communist Party and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in the South. The Un-American Activities Committee in Congress has already made this charge and has the proof to back it up.

This Communist front group brought Henry Wallace to Georgia and in a news conference in the Hotel Dempsey at Macon Henry Wallace let out the real object and purpose of his trip.

In this conference he was asked by a newspaper reporter what he thought would be the most effective step toward ending segregation of the races in Georgia.

Wallace answered, "I think the most important single place to get rid of segregation is in the public schools here. I'd start mixing the children while they are young and go right on up to the higher grades. Federal grants to Southern States for education should only be made if the schools operate on a non-segregated basis."

The cat is now out of the bag. In 1946 we told you that Henry Wallace, Ellis Arnall and the negroes in Georgia were out to destroy segregation in your public school system. A lot of you did not believe it.

What do you say now? Is there any other proof that the white people of Georgia need?

We have been making the charge continuously during 1946 and 1947. Ellis Arnall has never denied it. Henry Wallace has never denied our charge.

No negro in Georgia has ever denied the charge publicly.

Yet the negroes slide around to their white friends and assure them that the negro doesn't want any such thing. A lot of white people have been deceived by this sly propaganda on the negro's part.

Now the issue is in the open. Ellis Arnall speaks for it in the North and East and Henry Wallace does the speaking in Georgia.

Do not be fooled. There is no split between Ellis and Henry Wallace.

Do not be fooled there is no difference between M. E. Thompson and Henry Wallace. They are all out to accomplish the same thing.

It is true that when Henry came down to make his speeches that Ellis and M. E. Too found it convenient to be out of the State. They are following the policy of letting Henry Wallace come down and do the speaking and they are attempting to take a so-called dignified middle-of-the-road position.

They are trying to catch the people of Georgia both going and coming.

They are depending on Henry Wallace to round up the negroes. By this deception they hope to split the white people wide open and control this State.

Ellis Arnall and M. E. Too Thompson have sold you down the river before. They are trying to sell the white people of Georgia down the river again.

Are the white people of Georgia going to sit quietly by and take it sitting down?
