NEW-YORK, February 3.

By letters received by an arrival on Saturday, in 23 days from Port-au Prince, we learn (says the Gazette Francaise of yesterday) that the English government has determined to let out those habitations of Cul-de-Sac, the proprietors of which are absent, in the same manner that it did those of L'Acabaye, which were afterwards so productive to individuals.

On Saturday evening, as two of the men belonging to the ship Hope, were endeavoring to get on board, they mistook their way through the darkness of the night, and fell into the dock. Immediate assistance was given; and though it was little more than five minutes before they were taken out of the water, all the means used for their recovery proved ineffectual. They were found locked in each other's arms.
