NEWPORT:

Wednesday Morning, Oct. 23, 1844.

Our Own Affairs.

Our subscribers will see a notice in our advertising columns to-day announcing the dissolution of the firm by which this journal was formerly published. It has for some time past, been published by the senior partner of the late firm, as they have probably observed. He has made no change in its character, and proposes to make none so long as he is sustained in his present position by adequate patronage.

The withdrawal of the junior publisher makes it necessary, however, that the accounts of the late firm should be settled, and as the eighth year since we commenced publishing the paper will expire in a few days, we shall shortly present our bills, and hope that they will be promptly paid.

The General Assembly will convene in Bristol on Monday next, agreeably to adjournment.
