COMING TO THEIR SENSES.-Our readers will remember the effort last winter to tax an enormous rate of passage on the steamers from Sacramento and Stockton to San Francisco. The Sacramento boats have long since discovered their mistake, and are now carrying passengers for 50 cents. The following is the way the Stockton Journal talks to the other line :
"We have already noticed the fact that the southern section of the State was losing thousands of citizens every month. because of the low rate of fare charged by the Sacramento steamboats. A large majority of the passengers now arriving from the eastern States, as well as from China & Chili, having but little money, take passage for Sacramento, because the fare is 50 cts.while the Stockton boats charge $5. Will some of our Stockton merchants use their influence with the captains in our trade, who have the power to remedy this evil?"
