While looking over your paper of the 20th inst., my attention was attracted by an article from Little Sixteen.
Your correspondent after noting the agricultural prospects of the country, criticises the wages of School Teachers. He says he thinks they get "a plenty." Teachers are obliged to take what the Boards of Education see cause to give them, and as for getting such "a plenty," I do not think they get any more than they justly deserve. He says "teachers get $5 a month too much now." We contend that teachers do not get a cent too much, and often times do not get as much as they really should. The person who contemplates teaching, is at a large expense preparing himself for the arduous duties of the school room, and sometimes when their wages are due, they are compelled to wait three or four months, before they can get them. We do not propose to go into the technicalities of the subject as it would consume too much of your valuable space, but would just say if the Free School system was in the grasp of such men as your correspondent, there would soon be no need of school teachers. Young man, be careful for your creek is not very deep, and I can't see for my life, how such a "big chub" can swim in Little Sixteen.

Main Argument
teachers deserve their wages and often receive less than they should, contrary to the critic 'little sixteen' who claims they get too much; the writer defends the profession's expenses and delays in payment.
