PWA BOARDS TO END ON FEB. 28

Issues Warning Against "Controversies in PWA Program"

Washington, D. C. Feb. 19.—The services of the regional advisers and state advisory boards of the Public Works Administration throughout the country are to terminate Feb. 28, according to orders of Secretary Ickes, Public Works Administrator.

Ickes has also ordered that no further applications be accepted because already about $3,500,000 of new applications have been filed in the event that Congress should make further appropriations.

A warning was issued by the Public Works Administrator last night stating that he will "crack down on all cities and municipalities which will permit controversies to threaten the orderly process of the PWA program".

This will be further pressure this time from Washington, to prevent PWA workers from getting into conflict with the local administration.

But workers will continue to organize and fight to right grievances against the administrators and to demand a living wage for their labor under the PWA program.
