Dave Hayden, a colored man living on Five Oak plantation shot and dangerously wounded Lamas Perkins on the 23d inst. It seems that jealousy was the cause of the shooting. Hayden approached quite near Perkins' rear, with a double barreled shot gun, and emptied a load of buckshot or slugs into his right shoulder—shattering the shoulder blade and inflicting a painful and dangerous wound. Hayden has quitted the jurisdiction of Louisiana possibly never to claim his residence here again. The wounded man is doing tolerably well and may recover.
