Extract of a Letter from Lisbon, Feb. 19.

There was a private Auto-da-Fe in the palace of the inquisition on the 16th of this month, when sentence was passed on two prisoners, one of whom is an inhabitant of Pernambuco in the Brazils, and the other a Monk of the order of St. Augustine. The first is condemned to be whipped and to perpetual slavery in the galleys, for the crime of bigamy; the other, convicted of having abused the confession chair, is deprived for ever of all sacerdotal functions, and of exercising any employ in his order, and to be confined a year in the dungeon of the Holy Office.
