LEGISLATIVE.

Considerable business, principally of a local character, has been transacted since our last publication. In the Senate, on Saturday, the vote postponing until the first Monday of December next the bill allowing certain compensation to the members of the Canal Board, was re-considered; and said bill, after having been amended so that the pay of the Commissioners shall commence on the first day of December last, has been since read the third time and passed. The bill to incorporate the Bank of Mad River, after having been postponed in like manner, has been revived in the same way, and now lies on the table. A bill to provide for the investment of the Sinking Fund, has been reported by the committee on Finance; but will not probably be acted on for some days. The resolutions for the encouragement of the growth and manufacture of Wool in this State, have been agreed to. The providing for sundry works of Internal Improvement, after having occupied the attention of the Senate, on different days, for some weeks past, was at length postponed indefinitely, on Tuesday last, by a majority of two votes. Bills have been introduced on leave, authorizing the Governor to subscribe, on the part of the State, to the stock of the Mad River and Lake Erie Rail-road Company, the Cincinnati, Columbus and Wooster Turnpike Company, and the Cincinnati, Lebanon and Springfield Turnpike Company. The bill making an appropriation to aid in extending the Steubenville and Ohio Canal Macadamized Road, after having been postponed until the first Monday in December next, by a decisive vote, has been revived and laid on the table.

In the House, a resolution proposing an adjournment on the 21st of March next, has been introduced by Mr. Roller; which, after some debate, on two different days, was, on Wednesday last, postponed until the 18th inst. Certain documents from the Legislative Council of Michigan, on the subject of the Northern Boundary, have been communicated by the Governor, and ordered to be printed. The resolution recommending to the qualified electors of this State to vote for or against a Convention; the bill to incorporate the Bank of Georgetown, in Brown county; and the bill from the Senate fixing the rate of interest and for the prevention of usury; have been severally postponed until the first Monday of December next. The joint resolution for the appointment of a committee to prepare, during the recess, a bill for organizing and disciplining the Militia, has been postponed indefinitely.

The following bills have passed both Houses, viz: A bill to authorize the Mayor and Trustees of the town of Hamilton, in the county of Butler, to convey water from the Hamilton Basin, for certain purposes therein named; a bill to lay out and establish a State Road from Devisville, Harrison county, to Port Washington, Tuscarawas county; bill to incorporate the Conneaut Academy, in the county of Ashtabula; a bill to incorporate the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Congregation of St. Marysville; a bill to incorporate the Wardens and Vestrymen of the parish of St. Peter's Church, in Rome, in the county of Ashtabula; a bill to incorporate the Trustees of the first Congregational Society of Hampden, in Geauga county; a bill to repeal act to provide for the Inspection of Salt, passed March 3, 1834; a bill to authorize the Commissioners of Hamilton county to lay off and establish the township of Storrs; a bill to incorporate Marietta College; a bill making provisions to put into effect the acts for the punishment of crimes; bill for the relief of such purchasers of land as have lost their certificate of purchase; to incorporate the members of the Western Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Cincinnati; bill to incorporate the Painesville and Hudson Rail-road Company; a bill to incorporate Lancaster, Ohio, Insurance Company; and a bill to incorporate the first Presbyterian Church and Congregation of Eaton, in Preble county.
