Loyalty Day, Sunday, in Keeping With Hoey's
'Go to Church' Message
Rally and Church Loyalty Day will be observed at the Hendersonville Presbyterian church on Sunday. Rev. L. T. Wilds, pastor, announced today.
"It is well known that during the summer months there are many things that interfere with church attendance," Dr. Wilds said. "but now that the summer is over every member is urged to renew attendance and other support of the church and its activities."
The Lord's Supper will be observed at the 11 o'clock service in the morning, and a number of new members will be received.
The Sunday school will observe Rally Day and the classes will give way to a program to be attended by the entire school.
Dr. Wilds called attention to the fact that Gov. Hoey has designated Sunday as "Go to Church Sunday." He called attention to the following quotation by Gov. Hoey in making the proclamation:
"I admonish the people to observe go to church Sunday on the first Sunday in October, not merely for one day, but to establish a habit of resorting to places of worship on the Holy Sabbath day for the strength and help which comes from attending divine services and recognizing God as the source of all power. A distracted world needs above other things a sense of the presence of God in the settlement of world problems."
