BOSTON, January 9.
PLEASING INTELLIGENCE.
In addition to the Intelligence announced this day under the Albany head, of the happy prospect of a GENERAL PEACE with the late hostile tribes of Indians—we are able to add, on the information of a gentleman of respectability and veracity, directly from Philadelphia, that the measure is so far effected, that an immediate reduction of the army will take place; and that but two Regiments will be retained in service. That the Chiefs now in Philadelphia, and who were personally engaged in the unfortunate defeat of November 4, are highly satisfied with their reception; and that the Commissioners for settling the definitive treaty with the tribes, which have not sent Chiefs to Philadelphia, were preparing to proceed on their embassy, at the Miami towns: the treaty at which is to be held as soon as the leaves appear on the trees.
