Held Saturday to Select Delegates to State and Senatorial Conventions
The convention was called to order by county chairman, D. M. Evans.
A.J. Cray of Forest City twp. was duly elected temporary chairman and E. A. Church of Cresco was elected secretary of the convention.
The chairman of each delegation represented in the convention were appointed and constituted the committee on credentials who retired and after due deliberation reported the following named delegates as entitled to seats.

Report of credential committee was adopted and temporary organization was made permanent.
Motion made and carried that the chair appoint a committee of five to select ten delegates and alternates to the State convention to nominate a candidate for Governor, and also that a committee of five be appointed by the chair to select ten delegates and alternates to the Senatorial convention at Calmar to place in nomination a candidate for State senator.
As a committee to select delegates to the State convention the chair appointed the following persons, to-wit: J. D. Hayes, Cresco; M. Fox. Jamestown; Mr. Watson, Elma; Joe Williams, Lime Springs.
As a committee to select delegates to the Senatorial convention the chair appointed the following named delegates,to-wit: F. Salisbury, Cresco, J.H Nichols, Vernon Springs; Wm. Kuene; Albion; E. J. Williams, Forest City: Geo, Merrill, Saratoga,
Motion made and carried that the chair appoint a committee of five on Resolutions.
Pursuant to above motion the chair appointed the following named delegates as Committee on Resolutions to-wit: D. M. Evans, Cresco; C. C. Upton, Cresco; Ike Steel, Oak Dale; Dr. Lyons, Chester; Dr. Adams, Jamestown.
Committee appointed to select delegates to the State Convention rendered the following report: Delegates-O. L. Terry, Cresco; Chas. Nichols, Cresco; D. M. Evans, Cresco; C. V. Summers, Forest City; P. M. Ray, Jamestown; Dr. J. D. Lyons, Chester; Fred Salisbury, Cresco;E. E. Overfield, Elma; Geo. Dell, Howard Center; B.P. Norton, Vernon Springs.
Alternates -W. L. Converse, Cresco; A. J. Cray, Forest City; W. A. Murray, Chester; Francis Trunky, Elma; Dr. Adams, Jamestown; Frank Howlett, Cresco; Henry Spaulding, Elma; Tom Kakac, Saratoga; Dave Thomas, Forest City: Geo. Merrill, Saratoga.
Committee appointed to select delegates to the Senatorial Convention selected the following: W. L. Richards, Cresco; Peter Fravel, New Oregon; Christ Madsen, Chester; E. R. Thompson, Cresco; A. J. Cray, Forest City; Ike Steel, Oak Dale; Geo. Merrill, Saratoga; H. C. Salisbury, Vernon Springs; Albert Nichols, Albion; Joe Williams, Forest City.

Motion made and carried that the reports of the committees appointed to select delegates and alternates to the state and senatorial conventions be approved.
Motion made that the delegates present at the state convention cast the full vote of the delegation for A. B. Cummins for governor.
Motion made to amend above motion by adding thereto "first last and all the time," and motion as amended carried.
D. M. Evans was placed in nomination for county chairman and as there were no further nominations Mr. Evans was elected by acclamation.
Committee on resolutions made the following report which was unanimously adopted:
Resolved: That we are in hearty sympathy and accord with the administration of President Roosevelt and his frank and fearless attitude in seeing that the laws of the United States are effectually and fearlessly enforced.
We believe that he stands for all that is highest and best in American citizenship and for a square deal for every man, We give our unqualified endorsement and approval to the administration of Governor A. B. Cummins.
We commend his open and fearless attitude in attempting to secure a state wide primary election law, the election of United States senators by direct vote of the people, and his efforts to curtail and correct corporate corruption and abuse.
We declare ourselves in favor of protective tariff, and an immediate revision of present tariff Schedules by the republican party.
Be it further resolved: That our delegates in the state convention be and they are hereby instructed to use all honorable means to secure the nomination of Hon. Albert B. Cummins for governor, and that our delegation to the senatorial convention at Calmar be, and they are hereby instructed to vote for H. C. Burgess for state senator first, last and all the time.
