The Resumption Act.

Already the repeal of the Resumption Act is being agitated in Congress as well as among the people. The so-called Silver Bill having become the law of the land in spite of the veto of the President, the next important step in the line of finance is the repeal of the Resumption Act, and auxiliary to this, a thorough and exhaustive revision of the tariff. The Senate Committee have agreed to report a bill for the repeal of Resumption, and it is understood that a majority of the Committee honestly favor such repeal. They are said to stand as follows: Bayard, Kernan, Dawes, and Morrill oppose the repeal of the act, and Ferry, Jones, Voorhees, and Wallace favor repeal. Mr. Allison is the only member of the committee about whom there is any doubt, and his vote is essential to secure a favorable report on the bill. Mr. Allison is said to favor the repeal of the act.
