Kenyon Gets Honor From Army
She is the second woman to be made Honorary Sergeant in the United States Army.
Doris Kenyon, First National's noted featured player, appears at the Monroe Theatre tonight in the featured feminine role in Milton Sills' latest starring picture, "The Unguarded Hour."
That signal honor to her ability. During the World War Kenyon devoted so much of her time and energy to the doughboys, contributing largely to relief funds, appearing on entertainment committee and working unceasingly that the Honorary Sergeant's commission was bestowed upon her in recognition. Mme. Schumann-Heink, the famous contralto, was the first woman so honored. Miss Kenyon received the commission in addition to being a gifted screen actress, Miss Kenyon is a writer of several volumes of charming verse, a brilliant pianist and violinist, has appeared in concerts both as a pianist and vocalist and is an accomplished linguist.
