The Messenger's popular lady contest closed Saturday night. There were three winners, as follows: District No. 1, Miss Maida Younglove, daughter of Mr. Geo. W. Younglove, of this city, who received 17,994 votes; district No. 2, Miss Laurie Thurmond, daughter of Mr. John C. Thurmond, of Gracey, who got 12,959 votes; and District No. 3, Miss Annie Bruff, daughter of Mrs. Jas. Bruff, of this city, who had 10,610 votes. Capt. E. W. Clark, business manager of the Messenger, accompanied by Mrs. Clark as chaperon, will go with the party on the free trip to Niagara Falls, Canada and other points. The party will probably leave Friday.
