MANY DEAD AT MOBILE

Fifty-Nine Killed and $5,000,000 Worth of Property Destroyed-Famous Shell Road Gone

Birmingham, Ala. Sept. 30.-Mobile is still cut off from the outside world.

Dispatches just received by mail, which left Mobile at 8 o'clock this morning, say the city will suffer loss of $5,000,000 damage to buildings, steamboats, shipping, railroads, and commercial business.

The famous shell road is gone and will probably not be rebuilt.

Fifty-nine persons are known to have lost their lives at points near the city, the loss being heaviest near Coden.
