SUNDAY SCHOOL
ANNEX FOR UNION
BAPTIST CHURCH
Thurman Savage Is Contractor.
Ground Broken Wednesday.
To Occupy In December

Chincoteague, Va., Oct. 19 - For
quite some time the members of the
Union Baptist Church have realized
the need of Sunday School rooms in
order to properly carry out the Sun-
day School program. Recently the
enrollment has so increased, the
building of these rooms has become
an absolute necessity.

The plans, which were drawn and
presented to the church by Mrs. Vic-
toria Pruitt, were unanimously ac-
cepted and a building committee as
follows was appointed: Rev. O. W.
Sawyer, P. J. Blake, Edward F.
Clark, John Watson, Henry Clark,
Elton Holland, Wm. P. Pruitt, Mrs.
Bertha Watson and Mrs. Victoria
Pruitt.

This will be a two-story building
30 ft. by 43 ft, the first floor will
be a social hall with kitchen. The
second floor will have 8 class rooms,
with a hall running down the center.
Each of these class rooms will be
separated by folding doors.

This will be built on the install-
ment plan by Conant Bros. Co., who
are furnishing the material, while
the construction of the building was
awarded to Thurman Savage, who
broke ground for the building today.

Mrs. Fannie Beebe has been ap-
pointed by the church to act as
treasurer for the building fund which
will be financed each month by the
Sunday School and Ladies Aid of
the church.

The Ladies Aid already has enough
money in the treasury to build this
annex.

By accepting the above plan neith-
er the church nor community will be
burdened and thus God's work can
still go on. The building is badly
needed, the Sunday School is over-
crowded with 26 teachers trying to
teach in three over-crowded rooms.
It is hoped that this new building
will be completed by Christmas day.
