What is this article about?
Editorial praises the President's speech for its dignified language, calm investigation of principles, and sincere desire for honorable negotiation, likening it to the American Eagle holding olive branch and emblems of defense. Hopes it unites Americans and asserts national honor over pusillanimity, suggesting sending an Envoy Extraordinary or titling Gen. Pinckney accordingly.

With few, very few exceptions, meets the unanimous approbation of his fellow-citizens.--Uniting as it doth, the dignified and energetic language of a "Ruler of the Free;" with the calm investigation of principles and proceedings; added to a sincere desire to reopen the doors of honorable and friendly negociation; it strikingly resembles the American Eagle-presenting in the one talon the Branch of the Olive; and grasping in the other the Emblems of Defence.--It is sincerely hoped, it may as well prove the cement of Union to all Americans--as it is calculated to convince The World, that though loving Peace, and the tranquil arts which lead to National Prosperity there are points beyond which forbearance degenerates into pusillanimity; and where even Peace and National Prosperity must be sacrificed to National Honor and Independence. It cannot be required of any nation to "sell the truth for Peace, nor sound policy for the forms of civility;" But if the etiquette of European Courts, Republican as well as Monarchical, requires, that an Envoy Extraordinary, instead of a Minister Plenipotentiary should be the organ of a friendly discussion, then in the name of every peaceful attribute, let an Envoy Extra, be sent, or Gen. Pinckney clothed with that title: Satisfied as we are, that "nothing will be done to impair the national engagements, or innovate upon principles deliberately and uprightly established."
