Providence,
TUESDAY, JANUARY 16, 1810.
We fear that ere long some facts will be brought to light, to shew that it was the determination of our government to dismiss Mr. Jackson, before any correspondence commenced with that gentleman; that our Russian-Ambassador communicated such intelligence to France, and that consequently the insult which Mr. Jackson has offered to our government was a mere subterfuge adopted by them to carry into effect their previous determination. If these facts are true, and the pamphlet published in France warrants this construction, shall we say that France has no influence on this country? Connect the circumstance with the sudden departure of our Ambassador with the declaration contained in that pamphlet, that Mr. Jackson was dismissed before such dismission had taken place, and further, that this very pamphlet was published by a member of the French Senate, and it leads to a conclusion truly alarming.
