SOIL CONSERVATION PROJECT
GETTING STARTED

Ronald Mosher of Malta arrived the first of the week to begin work on soil conservation surveys and to determine the capabilities of the various soil types. Soil conservation surveys consist chiefly of mapping individual soil types, slopes, and degree or extent of erosion damage. From these physical inventories the capabilities and adaptabilities of the soils are determined; and the recommended conservation practices are indicated in order to maintain the land in its highest state of productivity without damage.

Mr. Mosher will be here for some time, and with A. S. Erickson, leader of the Tobacco Soil Conservation district, will cover the country pretty thoroughly.
