Unity In Mexican Election Is Asked

MEXICO, D. F., June 2. (AP)—An appeal for unity in the coming presidential elections, which was interpreted in opposition political circles as a peace proposal from the government, was made today by the socialist democratic party in a manifesto which set forth a suggested conciliation cabinet composed of leaders of all political factions.

The party, which is known as a close friend of the principal figure behind the present government, ex-President Plutarco Elias Calles, urged opposition parties to support General Lazaro Cardenas, "official" candidate of the national revolutionary party, and proposed that in return for this said Cardenas should promise before the July 1 voting to name a cabinet which would include general Antonio Villareal and Colonel Adelberto Tejeda, opposition candidates, as well as their principal supporters.
