Full Text

The mysterious disappearance of Mr. George Francis Buckheit, mentioned yesterday, is still unexplained, and the most determined efforts of his family and numerous friends, during the whole of yesterday, have failed to throw any light upon the occurrence. Nothing but the facts, as already stated, is positively known. A reward of one thousand dollars has been offered for the recovery of the body, and there could not have been less than twenty boats out yesterday afternoon and evening, dragging for what is merely supposed to be in the river. The small brass piece of the Schutzen Corps, was brought to the edge of the dock, and fired several times, without result.--Charleston News.
