If we may depend on the reports of an English family just arrived from Paris, the Spanish Minister is expressly assiduous in his applications, the chief design of which is to engage the French to join them to support the cause of the provincials against Great Britain, under pretence that they suffer greatly by having all kind of commerce cut off; and that the Court of Spain is ready to concert any measures, and to co-operate with that of France in any measure that promised effectually to impede the operations of the Court of Great Britain.
At present, however, the King of France is inflexible, he having been lately convinced of the vast advantage it is to his subjects to be at peace with England.
A plan is under consideration for making the island of Bermuda a free port, in consequence of a petition laid before the board of trade for the better promotion of commerce.
