Special Dispatch to The Intelligencer
Huntington, W. Va., June 25.—The criminal court was to convene to-day in this county and after the jurors, witnesses and other interested parties had assembled this afternoon, a note was received from Judge W. T. Thompson, stating that he was too sick to be present. The attorneys in looking over the law passed by the legislature establishing the court, were astonished to find that provision had been made for the appointment of a special judge, and the jurors and people were dismissed. Some of the latter had been summoned from a distance.
