LET'S MAKE OUR WORK SHINE BRIGHTER

Now that 1952 is no more, it behooves each of us to strive to make our work during 1953 a little more effective.

Some H. B. A. lodges have begun with the new year and from all indications they mean to make a better showing this current year. We have some lodges that are adding members that have not made a single addition in the past fifteen or twenty years. If some more of those presidents who have not been too active will get on the active list, then our progress will be greater.

At the end of 1952 our membership had progressed over our membership in 1951. During 1952 we had 142 deaths.

The number of deaths and the number of delinquencies hit the Association a staggering blow and yet we are above the eight thousand mark. This was made possible because the faithful and loyal presidents had a mind to work.

If each president will decide that he is going to do a certain amount of business during 1953 we will certainly get something done.

I believe that if each president will interest the members of his and her lodge to the extent that they will pledge to add one member to the Association between now and the Convention success will be ours. If this can be done, and I believe that there are some presidents who will do it, we will take our rightful place along other leading Fraternal Associations in the state.

We have gotten out a formal letter to all presidents asking their unstinted support during 1953 and we have also asked them to write an open letter to the paper for publication.

Let's do big things during 1953.

Secretary.
