BROUGHT DEFINITE RELIEF
TO THE MIDDLE WEST

CHICAGO, June 13. Squalls and windstorms sweeping down from the northland brought cool temperatures and definite relief to a large area of the Middle West ending a 10-day heat wave that set all-time records almost daily.

Ten persons lost their lives in the heat and subsequent storms.

The cool winds sent the mercury down from the 100 degree mark to 67 in the span of a few hours.

One million persons went to the parks and beaches here in search of relief before the weather did an about face.
