Mayor Ralph Hanna and City Manager A. B. Uzzle said today that radio station WPTF, Raleigh, has promised to feature Dunn in a live television broadcast if they are able to secure a channel from the Federal Communication Commission.
Both Uzzle and Hanna stated that all of the information was not available to them today, but they understood the station is seeking to prove coverage in this area in their race with radio WRAL in securing the one television channel available for Raleigh.
Uzzle said he was not certain on his information. but that he understood the two radio stations are seeking channel five, a high frequency channel.
MEETING REQUESTED
Graham Poyner, of radio station WPTF, has asked City Manager Uzzle to call a meeting of the Commissioners and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce to discuss his proposal. Uzzle said today he was not sure when the meeting would be held, but that it might be this week.
Hanna said he understood the station, if they secure television. will come to Dunn and present a live telecast of activities here. Included in the cast will be a survey of the industry businesses, and outstanding men of the town.
Neither Hanna nor Uzzle were certain of the terms under which the telecast would be made, but they understood it would be without charge, they stated.
Members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce voted this morning to send representatives to the meeting of the Commissioners when it is called.
