John Barrett Speaks at Celebration of Columbus Day.

Boston, Oct. 13. Boston's two-day celebration of Columbus day, the state's newest holiday, opened with a meeting in Faneuil hall yesterday at which John Barrett, director of the Pan-American union, urged that it be made not only a national holiday but be observed throughout the civilized world as such. To-day 43 nationalities join in a parade in which will be floats and many other features, fireworks closing the evening. Seven hundred Chinamen and 50 Japanese will be among the marchers.
