NEW-YORK, Nov. 23.
Latest from Portugal.
Yesterday arrived at this port, the
Portuguese brig Amizade, from Lisbon,
which port she left on the 21st
of October. By this arrival we learn
verbally, that the Juno, from America,
for Lisbon, was captured off
that port by a British Letter of
Marque, and sent to Greenock; the
Letter of Marque had been seized in
the Tagus, dismantled, and would
not be given up until the safe arrival
of the Juno.
Lord Wellington was at Burgos,
and expected to have a general battle.
The French Gen. Massena had
entered Spain, with 15000 men. Marmont
and King Joseph, had formed
a junction at Granada. Gen. Maitland,
at the head of 10,000 men, had
left Sicily, and had made a descent
on the coast of Spain.
Louis the 18th, had arrived at
Lisbon, from England, with a large
retinue, and was going to join Lord
Wellington.
