THEFT EXPOSED,—Last summer's wool shearing in Clarke was indebted, in part for being properly secured to a colored resident of Winchester by the name of Top Hite. Top's labours were shared by one or two other gentlemen of like complexion. The wool was taken from the flock of Mr. U. S. Boyce, and stored on the premises of that gentleman. Its sojourn under the roof of its owner, however, was of short duration. It disappeared one night, to the value, as reported, of some $300. The shearers were suspected: Mr. B. being satisfied that only they knew where it was stored. No steps were taken at the time.— The matter slumbered. Top spent a good part of the interim in Martinsburg: but maintained certain tender ties in Winchester, and last week was married here. This usually praiseworthy step greatly disgruntled another woman, with whom he had been on very intimate terms for several years, and who claimed him as properly her husband. Her ire blazed up at once, and very effectively. She at once brought full accusation against her delinquent Lothario, of the theft. He was arrested, and on Monday examined and sent to Clarke for trial.—Winchester News.
