LOS ANGELES -(INS)- The Student Senate of the University of Southern California, despite a condemnation of its action by the president of the University has reaffirmed its protest against Gov. Allan Shivers of Texas speaking at school commencement exercises.
The Senate unanimously adopted a resolution Wednesday night asking the school to replace Shivers with "someone recognized for tolerance and integrity."
Thursday USC president, Fred Fagg Jr conferred with the Senate and told its members they were immature and ill-advised in their action" and said he had talked with Gov Shivers and extended the invitation to speak once again.
However, after the president of the school left the Senate group, the members once again voted to oppose Shivers "because he has consistently demonstrated lack of ideals of tolerance integrity and intelligence.
